The International Conference on Research and Assessment for Sustainable use of Black Sea Shellfish Resources WHITECLAM will be organized in Varna, Bulgaria, from 18 to 19 October 2021, by the Institute of Fish Resources -Varna (IFR), in cooperation with the Black Sea Danube Association for Research and Development (BDCA), with the support of the National Operational Program on Fisheries and Aquacultures, Project “WHITECLAM”.

The Conference aims to provide a forum to discuss the latest developments in the research and assessment of the Black Sea shellfish resources, in the prospective of the EU and national policies on development of the Blue Economy.

WHITECLAM'2021 will be focused on the latest developments in research, monitoring, and assessment of shellfish resources in Black Sea, including following main topics:

  1. Black Sea Marine biodiversity
  2. Commercial Marine Living Resources
  3. Shellfish abundance
  4. Marine Aquaculture and Maritime Spatial Planning
  5. Climate Change Impact on Marine Environment
  6. Hydrochemistry
  7. Numerical Modelling & GIS Tools

Special attention shall be paid on the research, assessment of the abundance, and suggestion of measures for sustainable use of the resources of Bivalvia clams in the Black Sea.

The Conference will be organized as a Hybrid Event, including physical participation in a conference room, as well as online transmission of all presentations and discussions.

Keynote lectures, and presented papers will be included in an electronic Book of Proceedings. All papers will be accepted after a peer-review process based on their full text.
