The event of “Building further on sustainable fisheries towards a competitive and resilient environment” is the final step of the European Commission‘s consultation process for the report on the functioning of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) following an online-questionnaire and in-depth discussions at regional level.

We have the pleasure to inform you that registrations are now open for the stakeholders event, as part of the preparations for the reports on the functioning of the CFP and the CMO due to be adopted by the end of the year.

The event will take place in a hybrid setting, with participation possible both in Brussels and online. It will offer a unique opportunity to take stock of the functioning of the CFP and CMO and discuss challenges and best practices with all relevant stakeholders working in the fisheries and aquaculture world.

All stakeholders, including the fishing industry, non-governmental organisations, national authorities, academic, scientific, social and economic partners are invited to take part in the event. Discussion will be organised around two thematic plenary sessions. The first session will cover the social, economic and environmental objectives of the CFP: how can fishers and producer organisations cope with crises and strengthen their resilience, with a focus on climate change, social aspects, markets and clean ocean. The second thematic session will revolve around innovation, resilience and governance in the fisheries world. All of this coupled with the challenges that have been identified through the online consultation.

As background, it is also published the report prepared by FAMENET that is providing an analysis of the contributions submitted to the CFP online questionnaire earlier this year.
