While actively working towards demonstrating that large-scale restoration of river deltas, estuaries, and coastal lagoons is necessary to sustain the delivery of vital ecosystem services (ESS), REST-COAST is glad to share that a workshop on bridging the gaps in coastal restoration will take place in Thessaloniki, Greece, between 7 and 9 October 2024.

The goals of REST-COAST are to showcase that large-scale coastal restoration is not only possible but vital for our adaptation to climate change. Coastal ecosystems can provide low-carbon adaptation potential to reduce risks and gain biodiversity and ecosystem service delivery (such as agri- and aquaculture, flood protection, and tourism).

The workshop, kindly organized by the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) project members, aims to maximize synergies with other relevant actions and discuss how to bridge the gaps in coastal restoration from ecology, economy, engineering, and society perspectives. A special panel focusing more on the restoration of the Black Sea will also be held.

The event will take a hybrid format.
