The Burgas branch of Sofia University and the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) of Sofia University, in partnership with the British Embassy in the Republic of Bulgaria, are organizing the second edition of the international summer school Marine Renewable Energy Academy (MREA, "Marine Renewable Energy Academy"). The training will take place from September 2nd to 6th, 2024, at the Congress Center in the beautiful coastal city of Burgas.
The Academy is aimed at young professionals, researchers, students and experts from the public administration in the Black Sea region, with the goal of exchanging knowledge on all aspects of planning and developing energy infrastructure and innovations in marine environments. Traditionally, the trainers at the Academy are distinguished researchers and practitioners from the UK, Belgium, Denmark, as well as lecturers from the FEBA.
This year's training will cover the following topics:
- Current state of offshore renewable energy sources in Europe and the Black Sea region
- Technological advancements in offshore wind energy, synergies with floating solar systems, zero-carbon hydrogen, and ammonia fuels
- Minimizing the environmental footprint and applying an ecosystem approach in developing sustainable marine infrastructure
- Financial and regulatory aspects of offshore wind energy
This year, we dedicate a special day to presenting research projects funded under the Horizon program.
The program can be found on the Academy's website: https://mreacademy-feba.com/#program.
The training will be an excellent opportunity for your experts to gain insights into the latest trends in blue energy and to learn about current research and innovation projects being developed in Europe.
